day hike deseret peak (west desert) - September 28, 2008

Approximately 9- 10 miles RT, and 3,600 ft. elevation gain from the Loop Campground. The trail takes off into the pines and crosses a creek, then through a lush forest of aspens. The trail zigzags into a huge meadow and a rugged mountain ravine. As the trail approaches the saddle, there are great views of the Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island. The views from the top (11,031 ft.)are stunning. A call to express interest is appreciated. If you leave a voice mail (due to work), I may not be able to answer any questions until Friday night, September 26th. Meet across from the State Capitol by 8:30 am.
