alpine ski tour - telemark/at/splitboard - November 30, 2011

The WMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices. To support contact tracing and hands-free signing of the WMC Liability Waiver, online registration is required for all in person WMC events.
Introductory to Backcountry skiing in the Wasatch. To participate you will need to have skied the backcountry before, be familiar with your equipment and able handle yourself in challenging snow conditions. We start with less demanding tours (MOD-), advancing into more challenging (MOD+) situations. You must have a beacon, snow shovel, skins & eventually a probe. On every tour we will practice safe travel, you will learn, if you don't already, how to use your equipment and you will be drilled on your knowledge of snow conditions. Three pin telemark, BC and AT gear are the expected gear (If you ski 3 pins bindings or free-heel, you must be able to "link turns"). Destination will depend on participants, weather & snow conditions. Call for meeting time & location.
