mountaineering champagne couloir (to mount nebo summit) - May 24, 2015

The WMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices.
The couloir starts at about 35 degrees, and gradually increases to a sustained 45 degrees. There is a short section of 50 degrees two-thirds of the way up the couloir. There is no cornice that forms at the top. The couloir ends on the north ridge, about 100 feet from the summit. On the north ridge there is a 60-foot section of 58-degree snow. A bit more walking after that and you're at the summit. Travel south on I-15 to Mona then turn off to start near the mouth of Pole canyon. This is the narrow couloir on the left (east). This is a long fun endurance day requiring previous mountaineering experience and proficient use of an ice axe and crampons. Please bring helmet, headlamp, avi gear (beacon, shovel, probe). Call or email Paul Francis for further information. Limit to 6 People. This Activity if filled, no more registrations accepted, sorry.
