day hike - peak 10718 (lake peak) - September 10, 2017

Peak 10718 (also known as Lake Peak) is a small peak between Upper Red Pine Lakes and White Pine Lake and in the north of White Baldy. The route involves scrambling and boulder-hopping (class 2-3). We will do out & back from Upper Red Pine Lakes (not going down to White Pine Lake) to avoid exposure. This hike will be exploratory. I have never hiked to Peak 10718. But I saw the peak (and the route) when I hiked to White Baldy in July. The route to Peak 10718 from Red Pine Lakes looked very fun boulder-hopping. The estimated hike time is 7-8 hours. Expect an early start. Email before Friday, 6 pm, September 8, for the meeting place and time. Registration priority will be given to WMC members. Note (8/27): Co-organized with Beth Blattenberger. Since Beth knows the route to go down to White Pine Lake from the peak, we may do a loop.
