rock climbing - anchors training - September 28, 2017
This is an opportunity to learn how to place and critically evaluate the integrity of fixed and replaceable rock anchors. You will have the opportunity to place various types of replaceable anchors while on the ground. A variety of anchor placements will be analyzed in a group setting. We will also discuss the following elements as they pertain to multi-anchor systems typically used at belays and as top-rope anchors: Strength, Integrity, Equalization, Extension, Simplicity, Redundancy, Ergonomics, Abrasion Avoidance and Load Distribution. Text references for this training include: The Mountain Guide Manual: The Comprehensive Reference--From Belaying to Rope Systems and Self-Rescue (Marc Chauvin), Climbing Anchors (John Long). All participants are required to wear a helmet.
