day hike/borah peak/idaho • 3 days

Borah Peak is the highest mountain in Idaho located in the Lost River Range within the Challis National Forest. The lower trail climbs steeply through an old mountain mahogany and mixed conifer forest before reaching an open alpine ridge. The trail continues along this ridge with incredible views until we cross some class 3 scrambling known as "chicken out ridge". Once past this section it is an easy hike to the summit. Limited camping is available at the trailhead. Closest town is Mackey with lodging.
