snow hike (may not be) snowshoe - rocky peak in the oquirrh mountains - May 30, 2020
The WMC offers COVID conscious opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Participants of all in-person events should bring and wear face coverings, expect social distancing, and changes to our usual practices. To support contact tracing and hands-free signing of the WMC Liability Waiver, online registration is required for all in person WMC events. We plan to make a rarely climbed peak in the Oquirrh Mountains - Rocky Peak (10,273 ft), weather, conditions and situation permitting. The route that we plan to take involves class 2 scrambles. There will still be snow at higher elevations (above 7,000-7,500 ft) and requires snow traveling. Please bring micro-spikes and 10 Es. No avalanche safety gear required. Registrants will be informed if snowshoes are necessary when it gets closer. Exploratory. The location may change depending on situations. Due to long driving (1-1.5 hours one way), expect a long day. Please email before Friday, 6 pm, May 29, for the meeting place and time. Registration priority will be given to WMC members. Registrants will receive more detailed info. Limit 8. Personal Protective masks/bandannas required for times when social distancing is not possible.
